Tips for Surviving a Roadside Emergency

Planning right now for a potential roadside emergency is smart and will keep you out of harm’s way.

  • Pack a small toolbox with a hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, and a roll of duct tape. The duct tape can be used make small repairs and patch holes in a radiator hose so you can drive to a service station instead of being disabled.
  • Keep a few flashlights and plenty of fresh batteries in the trunk. This will give you the ability to flag down help at night or to work on your car in the dark too.
  • Don't assume your vehicle has a working jack, check for one and the tire iron too. Keep a couple cans of fix-a-flat handy and you can get your car to a service station instead of being stranded.
