Volvo Shows Off the 2018 XC40 Before Frankfurt Debut

The Frankfurt Motor Show is coming up on September 15th, and Volvo is marking the occasion by debuting the latest all-new model it’s been developing—the 2018 XC40. Unlike its larger utility siblings, however, this version rides on a different platform for its unique mission—providing the versatility and comfort a city-dwelling crossover owner desires.

Unlike the XC90 and XC60, which are both inspired by nature, the XC40 will offer a feel more suited for vibrant cities and fashion-forward shoppers. But that doesn’t mean Volvo is holding back on offering innovative tech. A 360-degree camera, Pilot Assist, run off-road protection, and more will be available on the XC40, as will a digital instrument cluster. Base Momentum trims will be styled with evocative cues, while R-Design and Inscription models will dial up a premium, dynamic feel that keeps with the clean simplicity of other recent models.
